BIPED is a town crier for the digital age, dystopian sound poet, and utterly infectious artist who works sound, image and language into their playful DIY processes, to construct a world that is lateral, liberationist, esoteric, rhizomatic and absurd.
Something like a half-dreaming musical on stage – janky ballads, cluttered IDM, pastiche, poems full of gaps – a gloryhole peeping into the sound of a strange, heavy, glorious world. Their performances are immersive and vulnerable, sincere and riddled with post-controversial satire and confessionalism.
The new show will be one of the first in a series bringing BIPED’s recent album to life with drummer Finlay Burch, loaded with more live instrumentation, and deep-dive sound design. Finlay Burch will be performing deft, intricate live rhythmic support, on drum kit, pizza trays and ancient clay-pipe, all through live FX modulated by BIPED. Same old ever-changing collapsing theatrics, improv, satire and absurdism of a very-human clown in the age of AI.
